Matz announced at ruby-dev and ruby-core that without any obstructions Ruby 1.8.3 preview1 was planned to
release at Apr 12. Since there seem no difficulties in
the lists we will be able to get it soon.

hint to readers: please try to run the test suite on your box, whatever platform it is.
I’m getting a lot of test errors both on win32 and on an old debian, I hope we can fix them before the new release.

I really wish Matz or somebody would post (non-detailed) changelogs for each release. What’s new/fixed in 1.8.3?

There are changelogs for 1.8-1.8.2 here, so when 1.8.3 is released, I guess eventually it will turn up here? ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/1.8/

I think the hint was to have a “user readable page”, a kind of “what’s fresh” cleaned up of details such as “fixed argument in rb_xxx()”.
We should start a page on the wiki, imo.
