The Chore of Winking is Heavily Diminished! #

by why in cult

Ah, the helping hands of the neitherworld. Hoodwink’d 1.8 has been tested with mad abandon. And we’ve really made it easy now!

Namely: most of the regular expression and xpath magic is gone!! In order to wink blogs now, you merely supply a regexp to match your blog’s Full Post URLs. And an XPath where to put the winks. (If you use query vars, you’ll also need to enter those.) The rest is done with AI.

In addition, we have new user pages and new site pages and a whole new onslaught. We just hit winker #1000. If you are feeling the notions, please consider writing us in for the 2006 bloggies under Best Web Application. Supply http://hoodwink.d/ as the URL —subvert subvert.

LOL ! I will imagine the perplexity of the organizers when they begin to receive lots and lots of hoodwink.d submissions that they can’t visit (not that I’m belittling them, though. It’s just that they might be too busy to have heard of the underground yet)

Are there provisions for retrieving password by-emailaddress instead of or in addition to by-username?

_why, those are beautiful upgrades indeed! Nice touches. I think you might want to change the action target of the onslaught search form to /search/ rather than search/, though, or a second search bails out.

am i the only one who has no idea wtf you are talking about? :P

http://hoodwinkd.hobix.com/ shows gibberish and none of the other links work.

I spent probably 15 minutes trying to figure out what hoodwink.d was with no luck

I’ve already created my hoodwink’d login and password, but my issue is that whenever I am running mousehole 1.2 as my proxy, I get the following error:

Service Unavailable A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. – connect(2)

Only happens on the “hoodwink’d” related pages…any idea what’s up?

A new release of MouseHole will be out soon, but I believe this is healed in MouseHole SVN . The Greasemonkey script is faster and more up-to-date with the state of winking.
