Docs Piling Up With Regard to Ajax and Ruby #

by why in inspect

Two excellent Javascript libs have been riding sidecar with Rails: Sam Stephenson’s Prototype and Thomas Fuch’s Script.aculo.us. These libraries have long been twiddled with in the nimble hands of scripting masters, but have lacked much documentation. However, the script.aculo.us wiki is now having a fill-in-the-blanks party for both libs.

The Prototype section looks to be about halfway. With plenty of great examples in the two areas that matter most: the Ajax.Request and Ajax.Updater objects. The Script.aculo.us section is very comprehensive, unfolds all over the place. Amazing what can happen now that Instiki has a robust backend.

Sergio Pereira’s Prototype documentation is worth a look too.

Did why just use a Enterprise word? Robust? Didn’t you mean “now that Instiki is built upon a foundation of a thousand stone monkeys”?

A useful Ajax article can be found here: www.sitepoint.com/article/remote-scripting-ajax/ (but also check out www.ajaxian.com and www.ajaxpatterns.org for more).
