Highlights Thus Far (Jan-Jun 2005) #
RedHanded has been around since December, maybe you’ve missed a couple of the great discoveries we’ve helped unearth or maybe you overlooked a cluster of goodness in the comments because you only follow the feed. As we’re at the year halfway, just want to point out the most notable ten of the past few months.
- RedHanded Art Liberation Front, Exhibits A-D, anthropomorphized Ruby
- Sparklines for Minimalists, check the comments, watch the heat unfold, jzp builds PNGs from scratch!
- Rails and RIFE, Wars and Strife… It’s All A Buncha To-do!!, the urgency of todo lists, oh man I love this era.
- Surplus Project Names Need Real Bones, crisscrossing memes, still a few left to flesh out.
- How Do You Parse Tab Separated Values, Rubikichi-san’s cool hack to subclass an anonymous Struct.
- Nobu Grades My Homework, lessons on writing C extensions.
- My Favorite Bad Practices, a few dirty hacks that I’ve always hung on to.
- Catapult Wiki Exoskeleton , a very short wiki, readable, great learning code I say.
- Hopscotching Arrays with Flip-Flops, hardcore (but useful) abuse of Ruby’s most controversial operators.
- Re: haiku.rb, thread here for a little while, sorta lost in translation between Japanese and English versions of the same subject.
Anything from around RH (or your own blog or the web at large) that you want to revisit? Or point out to other readers? Yes?

Ahh, a few of my favorite threads.
Given any thought to the proposed RALF oekaki? You know you want to. :)

I thought
was pretty good also.

I violently love the Hopscotching Arrays with Flip-Flops … but I went there when I clicked “Nobu Grades My Homework”; I think you got the wrong link

Keep up the good work! I think I can even start to hear the sound of millions of ducks typing, even here a great distance away. Perhaps there will be fewer migrations this fall as more of them are being put to work.

Hey, this reivew got me thinking (for once): Where’s the search to go with this vast collections of “very useful”[1] a information?[2]
1 From Thomas The Tank Engine.
2 Also note that footnotes are not rendered properly when following punctuation?

I still haven’t really absorbed Parens down the chute - it still isn’t in my Ruby vocabulary…
